What's Going On In April?

April brings two special days to the forefront in the workplace: Earth Day (Mon, Apr 22nd) and Take Your Kids to Work Day (Thu, Apr 25). While these are great days to celebrate our environment and show kids what an office looks like, celebrating in fun & meaningful ways isn’t easy. We’re here to help!

Earth Day | Monday, April 22nd

Bonsai Making Class

A bonsai-making class requires growth and patience, making it an ideal team-building activity. It encourages colleagues to work together, share tips, and discuss their progress, all while adding some green to your office!

Spring Floral Design

Hosting a spring floral design workshop encourages creativity and can beautify the office space. It's a group activity that allows teams to collaborate on designs, learn about sustainability, and brighten up a loved one's day!

Canvas Moss Wall Workshop

Creating a canvas moss wall brings a piece of the outdoors inside, improving air quality and adding a touch of green to the office. This workshop can be a collaborative project that contributes to a more pleasant and eco-friendly work environment.

Pop-up Farmer’s Market

Organizing a pop-up farmer's market at your office is an excellent way to educate colleagues about the benefits of local produce and reducing food miles. It can also be a fun and engaging way to promote healthy eating habits among the team. Plus, each person will bring home fresh, locally sourced produce!

Craft Day Workshop

A craft day workshop set up in a meeting room or communal area gives kids a chance to be creative and make something they can take home. It’s a hands-on activity that can be themed around the workplace or the services the company provides.

Group Music Class

Music is a universal language that can teach kids about rhythm, harmony, and working together. Organizing a group music class with simple instruments demonstrates the importance of teamwork and listening to each other, mirroring skills valuable in the workplace.

Magic & Balloon Show for Kids

Hosting a magic and balloon show can bring a sense of wonder and excitement to the office. It’s a fun way for kids to engage, ask questions, and learn through entertainment, making their visit memorable.

Kids Painting Class

Setting up a painting class where kids can express themselves through art can be rewarding. It allows them to explore their creativity while parents work, and they can learn about different aspects of the business through themed art projects.

Origami 101 for Kids

An origami workshop can teach kids about attention to detail, following instructions, and patience—all skills that are valuable in life and the workplace. It's a quiet activity that can be done in small groups, fostering a sense of achievement when they complete their creations.

An Extra April Shout-Out: Play Ball! MLB Season

While not directly related to Earth Day or Take Your Kids to Work Day, taking advantage of the MLB season start for a team outing can be a great way to build camaraderie in the office. It's an opportunity for everyone to relax, enjoy a game together, and bond outside the workplace, perhaps even including families in the event.

Focusing activities on specific themes like these not only makes for a memorable April but also strengthens team dynamics and enriches children's understanding of their parents' work lives. Whether it’s through nurturing a plant, creating art, or enjoying a day out at the ballpark, these experiences can foster community, environmental consciousness, and family connections in the workplace.
