Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: A Guide to Education and Supporting Hispanic-Owned Businesses
By Brandon Smith

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from September 15th to October 15th. This month-long observance is a time to recognize and honor the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities in the United States. The celebration begins on September 15th, a date that coincides with the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, followed by Mexico’s Independence Day on September 16th and Chile’s on September 18th.
During this month, there are many ways to educate ourselves and others about Hispanic heritage and to support Hispanic-owned businesses. Below, we've highlighted some engaging ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through educational events and by supporting Hispanic-owned businesses.

Supporting Hispanic-Owned Businesses
Supporting Hispanic-owned businesses during Hispanic Heritage Month is a powerful way to contribute to the economic empowerment of Hispanic communities. Here are some exciting ways to engage with and support Hispanic entrepreneurs through your events.
Moss Wall Workshop

Puerto Rican Classics
Puerto Rican cuisine is rich with flavors and history. A cooking class focused on Puerto Rican classics such as mofongo, tostones, and arroz con gandules can provide participants with a deeper appreciation for the island's culinary heritage.
